Election 2023: Stop Giving Contract Of Movement Of Your Staff To Adeleke's Appointee - APC
The Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has rejected the concession of the contract of the transportation of the staff of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) who are to serve in the state during the
Saturday's presidential and National Assembly elections to an appointee and surrogate of the Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke. The state APC which cautioned the INEC to desist from giving of such transportation contract to the appointee of Adeleke, one Wakeel Nurudeen a.k.a. 'Alowonle', a notorious political thug who was appointed the Park Manager by the governor, stated that such a contract was not only suspicious but it doesn't portray a level play ground for all the interested political parties in the elections.
It was learnt that the contract of the movement of the election umpire's staff was initially given to the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), Osun State chapter, but it was hijacked by Adeleke who insisted that Alowonle, his appointee, should take over the contract since the governor has dissolved the NURTW in the state.
The Acting Chairman of the APC in Osun State, Sooko Tajudeen Lawal, in a statement issued by the party's Director of Media and Information, Chief Kola Olabisi, told the INEC that his party has rejected in its entirety the concession of the contract of the movement of the INEC staff during the Saturday's elections to an appointee and collaborator of Governor Adeleke who is an interested entity in the elections.
Lawal observed that there could be no acceptable or justifiable reason why INEC should give the contract of the movement of his staff in Osun State to a known PDP member who's an apologetic crony of Adeleke whose name is commonly associated with the political crises in some parts of the state since the inauguration of Adeleke's administration.
The Acting State APC chairman told the INEC that the only solution to the identified political anomaly, which could jeopardize the smooth operation of the Saturday's elections, is for the INEC to replace the Adeleke crony with a neutral body.
In Lawal's words: "It is by taking away the contract of the movement of the INEC staff from the Adeleke appointee that our party and the discerning minds in the society would believe that the INEC is not trying to play a funny game aimed at favouring the PDP in the elections.
"Our demand on the issue at stake is clear: We don't want Adeleke's man, Alowonle, or anyone who has a relationship with the governor, to be put in charge of the movement of the INEC staff on the day of the elections on Saturday.
"If not for any ulterior motive, why would Governor Adeleke insist that his appointee should be the contractor to move the INEC staff around during the elections?
"In the interest of our state and sanctity of the election, I am happy to inform the INEC that the NURTW members which association Adeleke said he has dissolved are still very much around who would be willing to do the job without any let or hinderance", the state APC chairman disclosed.
